The Warder's Lodge (Entrance) - The three storey Tudor Warder's Lodge was built by Sir Humphrey Ferrers in the second half of the 16th century. The warder checked who was coming and going and probably escorted guests through the inner porch to be received by the family in the Great Hall. The marks are still visible where a glass roofed passage linked the outer and inner porches in Victorian times, affording some protection from bad weather.
